Changelog
What has shipped across DataShift products, month by month, newest first.
A record of what has shipped across DataShift products, month by month, newest first. Each entry names the product it belongs to, and new products are introduced in the month they first appeared. Some features depend on your plan or are rolled out gradually.
November 2026
- Freight: Freight API docs mention staging environment. The Freight API documentation now mentions the staging environment (stg.datashift.com.au) available for testing integrations.
- Docs: Docs now served from the main site. Developer documentation has moved to a dedicated docs service and now lives under /docs on the main DataShift site. It covers EDI and Freight, and adds Direct Print API documentation. Links to old documentation addresses redirect to their /docs equivalents, or to the docs landing page where there is no direct match. EDI OpenAPI specifications remain available at the public /edi/openapi/ path.
- Interchange: Report an issue on any part. You can now report a wrong or missing detail from part pages, and our team will review it.
- Interchange: More accurate part matching from published standards. Parts that differ in thread type, such as BSPP and NPT versions of the same camlock, are now kept as separate parts, and equivalents are no longer suggested across a thread difference. Part identifiers now include thread type and size, and existing identifiers are kept as aliases. A thread written only as BSP is read as BSPP, with lower confidence.
October 2026
- Docs: Developer documentation site launched. A developer documentation site is being rolled out, covering EDI, Freight and Direct Print APIs with guides, examples and downloadable schemas.
- Interchange: Introducing Interchange: verified parts data for AI. Introducing Interchange, a brand-neutral cross-reference for industrial hose fittings in Australia. You can search for a part, see its equivalents across brands, and join the waitlist for early access. A REST API and an MCP connection, which will let AI assistants look up parts data, are built but not open yet.
- EDI: Redesigned Exception Reviewer. The Exception Reviewer has been redesigned with plain-language explanations, a glance view of every line and order check, and inline decisions that show their consequences. It also has a phone layout.
- EDI: Reworked EDI workspace and navigation. Orders, documents and packages are now in one EDI workspace with saved views, readable document viewers and mobile-friendly detail pages. The dashboard can be viewed by month, and lists support date range filters.
- EDI: More reliable line matching and receiver checks. Unmatched invoice lines can now be resolved manually instead of being rejected. Manually matched shipment notices now go through, and invoices continue automatically once their last exception is resolved. Over-long PO numbers are stopped with a clear error.
- Freight: Freight carrier fixes. For TNT and Team Global Express, bookings rejected because of a public holiday now automatically move to the next business day, and the portal tells you the collection date was moved. Pickup contact details sent to carriers have also been corrected.
- Inventory Planning: Scout, an optional assistant for planning. Scout is a new optional assistant for Inventory Planning. Switch it on, then ask questions about your inventory from the top bar, and it answers from your own planning data. Scout is opt-in and can be limited to the people you choose.
- Inventory Planning: Inventory outlook on the Forecast page. The Forecast page now has an inventory outlook showing projected stock, a target, what-if scenarios and a record of past forecasts. Item stock charts also show a range of forecast uncertainty.
- Inventory Planning: Item lifecycle status and Ranges. You can now set a lifecycle status on items and ranges, including planned sell-down and not restocked, with an approval step, and planning respects it. Ranges also show your NetSuite item-class hierarchy and the capital tied up in each.
- Inventory Planning: A Today view and weekly email. A new Today view lists your decisions in one ranked list. You can approve a decision and create the purchase order in NetSuite from a single dialog, and the PO number and link are shown afterwards. Order builders now handle supplier minimums, pulling future demand forward and topping up orders, and you can choose a Lean, Balanced or Conservative planning posture. A weekly inventory position email is also available; it is off by default and each user opts in from their notification settings.
September 2026
- EDI: EDI dashboard and working order search. The EDI dashboard shows order value, in-progress orders, failures and open exceptions for the period you choose, with comparisons to the previous period. The purchase orders list can be searched by PO number, reference or partner name.
- Platform: More sign-in options and dashboard refresh. You can now sign in with Microsoft Entra ID or passkeys and link several sign-in methods to one account. The dashboard and sidebar have been redesigned to be denser and work better on mobile.
- Direct Print: Direct Print multi-printer support and reliability. Direct Print now supports multiple printers per device. Choose a printer in the selector, or pick a different printer for an individual job, including through the public API. Labels are now printed at 100% scale so their dimensions are preserved, and manifests are scaled to fit the page, which improves how labels fit on some printers. Relaunching the print client after an update is also more reliable, though a Windows security scan can still occasionally delay the first restart.
- Freight: Freight shipments, carriers and tracking. Freight adds quote history and analytics, redesigned shipment pages, and Excel export of the shipments table (up to 15,000 rows). You can cancel a shipment in DataShift, but the carrier is not notified, so cancel with the carrier separately. TGE tracking and proof-of-delivery handling have been improved, and rates are now quoted from the collection address.
- Inventory Planning: Vendor ordering profiles and supplier plan export. You can now configure an ordering profile for each vendor and see a procurement calendar. A 12-month supplier plan can be exported.
- Inventory Planning: Data health checks and a Value dashboard. New data-health checks rank problem records by dollar value, and supply that is past its expected arrival date is now flagged. A new Value dashboard shows, among other things, the dollar value of stocked-out items.
- Inventory Planning: Improved forecasts and reorder logic. Forecasts now use models chosen per item type, including slow-moving and newer items, and demand history is cleaned before forecasting. Reorder point and safety stock logic was updated, and item pages show how each is derived.
- Inventory Planning: Order worksheet and purchase orders to NetSuite. Buyers can build orders in an order worksheet that respects minimum order quantities and order multiples, and push them to NetSuite as new purchase orders. The push creates purchase orders only; it does not update existing ones.
August 2026
- Direct Print: Direct Print launches with public API. Direct Print now has a public API. Create API keys with chosen scopes in settings, then use the API to list your print devices and submit print jobs. API documentation is available.
- EDI: Safer handling of timed-out EDI dispatches. When a document delivery times out, it now waits for you to confirm whether the receiver got it instead of retrying automatically, which reduces the risk of duplicate documents and repeat notifications.
- EDI: EDI documents no longer get stuck or misreport errors. Fixed several cases where EDI documents could get stuck after temporary failures. Retry and rate-limit errors are classified more accurately, and NetSuite error codes now show in the document trail and retry dialog.
- EDI: EDI date accuracy and ASN variance fixes. Outbound acknowledgements now carry correctly formatted dates. Partial shipments no longer raise a quantity variance exception, and orders routed through a value-added network (VAN) are no longer wrongly held for a missing acknowledgement or shipment notice.
- EDI: EDI dashboard summary and Order Hub improvements. The EDI dashboard now summarises orders received, in progress and open exceptions for any date range. The Order Hub has a redesigned layout with a mobile experience.
- Platform: Per-recipient notification email controls. You can now set a notification email address and choose which events to be notified about for each trading partner connection. Error and retry notifications are now opt-in by default.
- Platform: Security hardening and stronger 2FA setup. Security hardening, including framework and dependency updates and tighter access checks on some API routes. The two-factor authentication setup has been redesigned with clearer steps and a visible manual setup key.
- Freight: Freight payer model and booking confirmation. Freight bookings now include a payer setting. When someone other than the sender pays, their carrier account number is required and is sent to the carrier with the booking, and you are asked to confirm before it is booked.
- Freight: Smarter manifests with scope filters. The manifest generator now lets you filter by direction, packaging and date scope, including Unmanifested consignments. You can also create a manifest for a single consignment, and the shipments list shows which consignments are already manifested.
- Freight: Automated freight tracking and analytics. Freight tracking now refreshes automatically several times a day and records collected and delivered milestones, where the carrier provides them. Shipment detail pages show more booking information, including quoted price, estimated delivery, carrier barcodes and dangerous-goods details.
- Freight: Collection address and timezone-aware quoting. You can now enter a collection address separate from the sender. Ready times and cutoffs are calculated in the timezone of the collection location.
- Freight: Carrier booking reliability and address normalization. Carrier bookings now pass address details, dangerous-goods information and carrier error messages through more accurately. If a carrier rejects a suburb and postcode combination, you can report it from the quote screen. Once DataShift approves a correction, it is applied to later bookings with that carrier.
July 2026
- EDI: Reviewing PO acknowledgements in one step. Accept, reject or backorder decisions on acknowledgement exceptions can now be staged and submitted together. Order totals are recalculated correctly after rejections.
- EDI: Edit, exclude lines or reject errored orders. Documents that error can now be corrected and resent. For purchase orders that fail at dispatch, you can also exclude individual lines or reject the order.
- EDI: Redesigned Order Hub and packages directory. The order view has been redesigned for easier line comparison and mobile use. A new Packages area lets you search shipments by carton and follow SSCC links from orders.
- EDI: Dates shown in sender timezone. Document dates now keep the sender's original timezone and display accordingly, avoiding off-by-one-day errors.
- EDI: Smarter invoice validation and faster document lists. Invoice checks now consider cumulative quantities, reducing false exceptions on split shipments. EDI document and order lists load faster with server-side paging.
- Platform: Notification preferences and email overhaul. A new notification settings page lets you choose which events you hear about. Notifications now show document numbers, and emails support dark mode.
- Freight: Team Global Express freight carrier onboarded. Team Global Express (TGE) is now available as a freight carrier, with live rate quotes, booking, pickups, tracking and printable labels per carton. Quotes now appear carrier by carrier as they arrive, with transit days and carrier logos.
- Freight: Carrier-agnostic pickup booking. You can now book carrier pickups directly, either standalone or from a shipment, and track their status. Failed pickups can be retried and contact details edited.
- Freight: Tracking, labels and manifests improvements. Tracking now shows proof of delivery where the carrier provides it, with the newest events first. Labels can print automatically when created. Printable driver manifests and a refreshed freight dashboard have also been added.
- Inventory Planning: One suggested order quantity, with the working shown. A new "How this was calculated" panel shows the demand, lead time and safety stock behind each suggested order quantity. Suggested order quantities now use one shared calculation that accounts for backorders and order multiples.
- Inventory Planning: Respects your NetSuite reorder settings. Inventory Planning uses the reorder points, preferred stock levels, manual overrides, item-location lead times and safety stock maintained in NetSuite. Items that only have a stock level parameter are included.
- Inventory Planning: Richer vendor pages and item detail. Vendor pages show a health score, open purchase orders with per-line status and a lead-time trend, and use the preferred vendor from NetSuite. Item detail adds fact tiles, incoming supply, a timeline and exceptions. The Items grid now pages on the server.
June 2026
- Inventory Planning: Introducing Inventory Planning. Inventory Planning is a new DataShift product that reads your stock, supply and vendor data from NetSuite and gives buyers a clear, factual view of what is happening. It includes a Workbench, item detail, item classification (ABC, variability and trend), stocking policy review, a risk queue for items likely to run short, vendor performance pages and settings. At launch it is read-only: it shows facts and flags risks, and does not make purchasing recommendations.
- EDI: Accurate money handling across EDI documents. Monetary amounts and unit prices are now stored and displayed with consistent precision across orders, acknowledgements and invoices.
- EDI: Stricter invoice and ASN validation against acknowledgements. Invoices and shipment notices are now checked against the supplier's confirmed order acknowledgement, partial-invoice tax is calculated correctly, and backordered zero-quantity invoice lines are removed. Invoices with unresolved issues wait for review before being sent.
- EDI: Admin resend and clearer dispatch history. Admins can now resend dispatched documents; the resend is skipped if the record already exists in NetSuite. The document timeline shows the delivery response and any error details, and resubmitting a document that has lost its link to its original order now gives a clear explanation.
- EDI: Safer document storage and schema version fixes. You can now view and download raw and output document content. Fixed cases where some documents failed validation or were matched to the wrong earlier record, and identifiers with leading zeros are now preserved.
- Platform: Rebuilt dashboards and page fixes. Dashboards have been redesigned with product metric cards. Live progress views now reconnect after a dropped connection.
- Direct Print: Unified direct printing for labels and freight. Label Generator and Freight now share one print device setup, with a page to manage your devices. The Windows print client installs per user, without needing administrator rights, and each update is checked against a SHA-256 hash before it is applied.
- Freight: New Freight product with multi-carrier quoting. Freight is a new DataShift product for multi-carrier shipping. From the portal you can compare quotes from multiple carriers, book shipments, download labels and track consignments. A public Freight API with documentation and self-service key management is also available.
- Freight: Border Express and TNT carrier support. Freight now supports Border Express alongside TNT. TNT quoting now automatically moves the ship date forward when the pickup cutoff has passed.
- Inventory Planning: Nightly refreshes and CSV exports. You can now switch on automatic nightly data refreshes and export your tables to CSV. Refreshes show their progress while they run.
- Inventory Planning: Suggested orders on vendor pages. Vendor pages now show a Suggested buys table with a suggested order quantity for each item. Item pages compare your NetSuite reorder point and preferred stock level with the DataShift calculation.
- Inventory Planning: Simpler navigation. Inventory Planning navigation is now simplified to five areas: Overview, Decisions, Items, Vendors and Preferences, with Overview as the landing page for managers.
May 2026
- EDI: Nested ASN structures in mapping editor. The mapping editor can now map nested structures such as ASN cartons and their line references, with scoped rules and clearer setup. Schema viewers also show linked custom record sections.
- EDI: Unified, safer mapping editor and saves. Mapping editing is now a single unified editor with draft saving, an explicit Validate step and safer activation checks. Deleted rules no longer reappear after saving.
- EDI: Mapping history shows real audit events. Mapping history now lists who changed and activated mappings, and when.
- EDI: POA accuracy and strict date handling. Purchase order acknowledgements keep mapped line fields and correct line statuses. Dates with no timezone information are rejected with a clear error when no partner timezone is configured.
- Platform: Timezone handling made consistent. Dates and times now display in your own timezone, which you can set in account preferences. A banner suggests updating it if your browser timezone differs.
- Platform: Accessibility and dark mode improvements. Improved accessibility with screen-reader labels and better dark-mode contrast.
- Label Generator: Carton labels with SSCC support. Set your GS1 company prefix and design carton label templates with SSCC (shipping container code) barcodes. Carton labels are printed from Packing Lists rather than the order page, and each one counts toward your monthly label limit.
- Docs: Public EDI developer docs and schemas. A public EDI developer documentation site is now live, with document models, example payloads, an error catalogue and versioned schemas you can compare across releases.
April 2026
- EDI: Policy-driven validation across EDI documents. Your document processing policies now drive validation for purchase orders, acknowledgements, shipment notices and invoices, including tolerances, backorder handling and required fields.
- EDI: Reliable line matching and order status. Purchase order status now updates automatically once exceptions are resolved. Document lists also show the PO number and Last Updated date.
- EDI: Fewer false errors on incoming purchase orders. Fixed an issue where some valid purchase orders were wrongly rejected with missing warehouse or line item errors, and a mapping lookup problem affecting some trading partners.
- EDI: Improved EDI dashboard, settings and exceptions. EDI settings now live in the sidebar, and exceptions are split into Exceptions and History tabs.
- Platform: Label credit ledger: month selector and export. The label credit ledger now lets you choose a billing month, set rows per page, and export to Excel.
- Platform: Design system refresh and dark mode. The app has a refreshed look with improved dark mode, consistent status colours and better contrast throughout.
- Platform: Activity and system notes audit views. Tenants can now see an Activity log and System Notes showing who changed what and when, with filterable tables and field-level change history.
- Platform: Granular role permissions. Role permissions are now more granular, with per-resource access levels you can set from the role editor.
- Platform: Sessions, theme sync and sign-in polish. Your theme preference now follows you across devices, and the sidebar is redesigned to focus on the service you are using. Error pages and notifications are also more resilient.
- Label Generator: Label Generator output, layout and navigation improvements. Label Generator now handles part numbers containing underscores and wraps long text on labels instead of cutting it off. On the order page, keyboard shortcuts no longer fire by mistake when you scan a barcode. The rules that choose order types and templates now have their own Automation Rules page, with separate permissions for viewing, creating and editing them.
- Direct Print: Direct Print for Label Generator. Direct Print for Label Generator sends labels from the order page straight to your label printer, with no browser print dialog. It is available on the Pro plan. Install the DataShift Print Client on a Windows PC, authorise it for your organisation, then print with the P keyboard shortcut. A device selector lets you choose which connected device to print to.
March 2026
- EDI: Unified mapping editor and partner dashboard. Mapping setup now happens in one editor with drag-and-drop mapping, validation before saving, change history and draft management. A new partner-based dashboard shows each partner's inbound and outbound mappings.
- EDI: Manual and automatic ASN/invoice line matching. Shipment notices and invoices are matched to purchase order lines using each line's unique key, and any lines that cannot be matched are flagged so you can resolve them manually from the order view.
- EDI: PO acknowledgement exception handling overhaul. Purchase order acknowledgement exceptions now have a guided rejection workflow, backorder and correction outcomes, separate unit, line and order price variance checks, and a side-by-side Exception Reviewer.
- EDI: Bulk actions and faster document lists. Select multiple documents to download, retry or request corrections in one go. Document lists load faster with improved sorting, search and paging, and no longer show stale data when you navigate back.
- EDI: Rebuilt EDI dashboard with timezone support. The EDI dashboard has been rebuilt with an activity chart over selectable ranges, an exceptions summary and recent documents. Dates now respect each partner's timezone so they no longer shift by a day.
- EDI: Schema snapshot comparison and purchase order lifecycle. You can now compare two schema snapshots to see exactly what changed. Purchase orders also move automatically through partially shipped and invoiced states as related documents arrive.
- EDI: Pipeline reliability and data integrity fixes. Document processing is more reliable: documents no longer get stuck after timeouts, single-line XML orders keep their line items, valid monetary amounts are no longer rejected, and mapping calculations such as tax now apply correctly.
- Platform: Account, onboarding and organisation settings. Sign-up and sign-in have been redesigned with password reset, and workspace setup now includes Australian Business Number (ABN) lookup. There is also a new mobile menu, guided tutorials and expanded organisation settings.
- Label Generator: Label credit ledger and label rules. Label usage now includes a credit ledger listing adjustments made to your Label Generator credits by an admin, which also change how many labels you can print. You can also set up rules that decide each order's type and which label template is used, replacing the previous fixed order-ID mapping.
February 2026
- EDI: EDI document detail and processing traceability. Support staff and admins now get a status timeline with retry visibility on EDI documents, and every processing run records which configuration and mapping version it used.
- Platform: Help center, support tickets and audit logs. A new help center and support ticket system are available, along with audit log pages so you can review activity in your workspace.
- Platform: New onboarding, plans and billing. New onboarding guides you through workspace creation, email verification and plan selection, and subscription pages have been redesigned to make managing your plan easier.
- Platform: Stronger sign-in and account security. Sign-in is redesigned with email and SMS two-factor authentication, password login and session management. Invitations now have a dedicated acceptance page, and switching roles or workspaces is smoother.
- Platform: Redesigned dashboards, navigation and mobile UI. The tenant dashboard now shows a card for each of your products. Search covers more of the app, and the interface has been refined for mobile with a bottom navigation bar, larger touch targets and responsive tables. Emails have a refreshed look.
- Label Generator: Label Generator usage analytics and limits. Label Generator now shows your usage against plan limits, with progress indicators that update as you print and clear upgrade prompts as you near a limit.
- Label Generator: Community label templates. Starter and higher plans can now publish, browse, search and import community label templates shared by other users.
- Label Generator: Faster order loading with warm cache. Label Generator can now keep your pending orders in a cache that refreshes every 15 minutes during business hours, so orders load faster. Turn on Keep Data Warm in Label Generator settings to use it, and press F on an order to force a fresh pull when you need the very latest data.
- Label Generator: Label designer, barcodes and carton management. The label designer now supports barcode fields and richer styling, with a setup wizard and guide. Carton management is faster with full keyboard navigation and a compact split editor.
- Label Generator: SuiteQL order sourcing option. Label Generator can now fetch NetSuite orders through NetSuite's native SuiteQL API as an alternative to the custom NetSuite script. It is an option set per account, and the custom script remains available. Settings also include an API testing panel for inspecting raw order data, and NetSuite errors now show their actual detail instead of a generic message.
January 2026
- Label Generator: Label Generator launches. Introducing the Label Generator: create and manage label templates with a visual editor, print labels for orders with flexible carton quantities, and review or restore past print jobs from a searchable Print History.

- EDI: Reliable line matching across documents. Order lines are now tracked with a unique key across orders, acknowledgements, shipping notices and invoices, so related documents link back to the right order and line.
- EDI: Retry and orphan failed documents. Support can now retry failed documents from a chosen stage with a history of attempts and notifications, and mark documents that should not be processed as orphaned.
- Platform: Real-time updates and notifications. Tables now update in real time, and notifications arrive in one stream with links straight to the relevant document. More event types are covered, including acknowledgements, shipping notices, invoices and retries.
- Platform: Account pages and loading states. New account pages let you manage your profile and theme from a user menu.
December 2025
- EDI: Tenant EDI portal. View documents and orders from your trading partners in a dedicated EDI area of your workspace, with a dashboard and permission-based access.
- EDI: Visual drag-and-drop mapping editor. Build document mappings visually by dragging fields between formats, with suggestions, live validation and coverage checks.
- EDI: Schema snapshot management for mappings. Manage the schemas your mappings rely on: refresh and publish schema snapshots, and pick from published schemas when creating a mapping.
- EDI: Support references in error messages. Error messages now give a short support reference you can quote to support, and the technical correlation ID column has been removed from document tables.
- Platform: NetSuite connector setup and status. Connect your NetSuite account, test the connection and check its status from a dedicated connectors page, with refresh and retry options.
- Platform: Smoother switching between workspaces. Switching between workspaces and roles is now clearer and more reliable, with a progress indicator and fixes for cases where the screen could freeze.

October 2025
- EDI: Introducing the DataShift EDI platform. Introducing the DataShift EDI platform. At launch it receives purchase orders from trading partners in the cXML standard, converts them into a single standard document format, checks them against business rules and schema validation, and prepares them for delivery into your back-office system. Acknowledgements, shipment notices and invoices followed in later releases.

- EDI: Expanded trading partner document support. Expanded our document standards to cover more trading partner requirements, including additional units of measure, credit-note handling on invoices, and support for two further cXML versions.
